The International Museum Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 around the world with the theme Museums and Cultural Landscapes. The Jelsa Museum will participate this year.
"The purpose of the International Museum Day is to encourage reflections on the role of museums in the community as well as its possible new activities. The goal is to present a number of possible comprehensions of the cultural landscape and the diversity of the processes and products resulting from the interaction between man and nature", informs Marija Plenković, the new dynamic curator of the Jelsa Museum.
A creative workshop for preschoolers from Vrboska will take place on Wednesday and the Jelsa Museum will be open from 12.00 - 20.00 with a free group tour at 18.00, followed by a lecture by Mirna Bojanić on the sea landscape and its importance for the Hvar island. Both the Fishermen Collection in Vrboska and the UNESCO Exhibition at the reception hall in Jelsa will be open until 20.00 on Wednesday.
Everyone is invited. More info at the FB page of the event.
