One of the oldest settlements on the island, probably dating back to the Illyrians, beautiful old stone houses, hidden alleys and the most beautiful view on the Hvar Channel, Jelsa, Vrboska, Brač island up to Makarska and Biokovo, our reason number 18 - Pitve.
I could write about the history of the place, about its strategical location above Jelsa, which kept Pitve safe for centuries, about Jelsa being founded as the port of Pitve (much later) and about the beautiful old stone buildings, which stand so tight together, forming a sort of fortress surrounded by those amazing green fields and vineyards, and it would all be true and Pitve is all of that, but to me, Pitve is also the most romantic place on the island. It is the place, where you want to take your sweetheart out for a dinner she will never forget.

I certainly won′t. I will always remember the first time I had dinner in Pitve. Walking those alleys up to the restaurant was magnificent, but it was nothing compared to the view from the restaurant itself. It took my breath away.

There is nothing artificial about the place and the restaurant in terms of creating a special romantic atmosphere. Nobody is putting out tons of candles and that kind of stuff. It is just naturally happening there. That is why I love it so much.
