Imports Growing Faster than Exports

ZAGREB, September 7, 2018 - Croatia's exports reached 60.7 billion kuna in the first seven months of 2018, up 3.2% over the same period in 2017, while imports increased by 6.2% to 101.6 billion kuna, the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said on Friday.

In Eight Months, Tourists Record 4% More Overnights

ZAGREB, September 6, 2018 - Croatia recorded 15.7 million tourist arrivals in the first eight months of 2018, up 5% on the year, and 88.5 million bed nights, up 4%, while 3% more arrivals and 1% more overnight stays year-on-year were recorded in August alone, the Croatian National Tourist Board said on Thursday.

Industrial Production Decline Continues

ZAGREB, September 3, 2018 - In July 2018, industrial production in Croatia went down 0.9% on the year, annually decreasing for the seventh time in the past nine months, while monthly it fell 4.9%, the national statistical office said on Monday.

Number of Construction Permits Issued Declines

ZAGREB, August 19, 2018 - In June 2018, 602 building permits were issued in Croatia, down 18.2% on the year, for works totalling 1.37 billion kuna, down 33.1% on the year, the national statistical office has said.

Inflation Hits 2.1%

ZAGREB, August 18, 2018 - In July 2018, consumer prices in Croatia went up 2.1% on the year, less than the record high annual increase recorded in June (+2.4%) but nonetheless it was the second highest inflation rate this year, according to figures the national statistical office released on Friday.

In June, 1.5% Fewer Tourist Overnight Stays Recorded

ZAGREB, August 10, 2018 - A total of 2.6 million arrivals and 11.9 million nights were generated in commercial accommodation in Croatia in June 2018, which is 4% more arrivals and 1.5% less nights than in the same month in 2017, while in the first six months of 2018, there were 6 million arrivals and 22 million overnights, up 12% and 9% respectively on the year.

Exports Falling Further Behind Imports

ZAGREB, August 9, 2018 - Croatia's exports in the first six months of 2018 came to 51.3 billion kuna, rising by two percent compared to the corresponding period in 2017, whereas imports increased by 5.5% to 85.9 billion kuna, according to preliminary figures released by the national statistical office (DZS) on Thursday.
