Jelsa Tourist Board: Gastronomy Workshop in Jelsa this Weekend

By 20 April 2016

In organisation of the Jelsa tourist board, a series of Gastronomy workshops is starting this weekend.

The main idea is to stimulate the off-season gastronomy offer as a vital part of the local tourism development. Jelsa tourist board believes, that having a certain percentage of restaurants open through the whole year would result in a more active way of life of the whole island - from local fishermen to small farmers, everyone would benefit, as they could sell their produce all year round. With reasonable prices, the goal would be to attract the locals to get into the habit of eating out and to keep the business running even in winter months (keeping and educating employees, preparing new foods or traditional ways of conservation of food, etc.).

This weekend (April, 22 & 23, 2016) the first 2-day workshop will take place. Held by Radovan Marčić and an Italian chef, Marco Sasso, it will be a combination of a theoretical (traditional food, Hvar gastronomy) and a practical part (preparing fresh pasta).
