I love the Scots - they are my favourite 'almost winner' nation.
There is not enough space on the TCN server to document all the glorious sporting moments when the Scots were on the verge of an historic sporting victory going into injury time, only to get beaten in the last minute (we won't talk about battles and wars, as that would require at least three TCN servers).
The fact that they hate the English makes my love burn a little stronger. How could you not love them when they demand independence from England for hundreds of years, and when you give them the chance to vote for their freedom, they vote to stay with the English.
The thing I love most about the Scots, though, is their spirit, How would you react to seeing your national rugby side absolutely thumped by their biggest rivals? By thumped, I mean 61-21.
How to respond to such a massive defeat? On Hvar, our favourite Scottish Vrbanjites responded in the best way possible, braving the elements to officially open the 2017 swimming season yesterday.
Regular readers of the blog will recall our friends Pete and Rhona, who are living full time on the island, and probably get as much out of Hvar life as any couple I know. They are constantly exploring and finding great hiking places. And they do love to swim, even going for a dip in December.
And now the first swim of 2017! The water might be a little fresh for most of you, but the fact that the Scots are already swimming is a concrete sign that another glorious Hvar summer is just around the corner.
