Almost a day after it cooled of most of the rest of Croatia, Korčula has finally seen the storm.
We knew it was coming, the weather people said it should be a serious storm, it has already brought rain and decreased temperatures throughout Croatia, but when the storm finally hit Korčula today, it was a sight to be seen.
It hasn't lost much of its strength before coming to this southern Dalmatian island - although it rained in Dubrovnik during the night, several hours before it hit Korčula.
And hit it did. For 10 or so minutes, it was as if Pelješac peninsula was completely gone, fully obscured by the clouds and the rain, and it's less than two kilometers away from Korčula Old Town.
In addition to that, there was a twister near Korčula, in the sea of the Korčulan archipelago. You can see it in an amazing photo by Maja Šain below, just behind Badija islet.
Several videos of the same twister were published by index.hr website, and although they say that it's near Orebić, that's the same one, because that's the direction it went to.

Some of the events planned for today and tonight in Korčula might have to be moved or postponed, for instance a taekwondo tournament which traditionally takes place at the Memorial in the centre of the town had to be moved to the school gym, and a concert by Natali Dizdar is scheduled to happen on the terrace of the Hotel Korčula de la Ville tonight - hopefully it will not rain during the concert and we get to enjoy that amazing singing voice.
