Kumpanija - Blato Sword Dances

Kumpanija is a traditional folk ensemble and sword dance that uses a drum and a bagpipe, usually performed in Blato but sometimes also in the near-by places Smokvica, Čara and Pupnat. The sword dance displays the local militia who were once used to protect the towns from invaders. Kumpanija is listed by the Ministry of Culture in the Republic of Croatia to be safeguarded as intangible cultural heritage.
