Getting to Dubrovnik by Plane

Dubrovnik Airport is one of the busiest international transport hubs in Croatia and it has been recording the fastest growth in passenger traffic in Croatia. With the new terminal completely opening in summer season 2017, the airport is expected to continue registering double digit growth with the aim of accommodating 2 million passengers this year.

Dubrovnik Airport, also referred to as Čilipi Airport, is located approximately 15.5 km from Dubrovnik city center. It was the third busiest airport in Croatia in 2016 after Zagreb Airport and Split Airport in terms of passenger throughput and has the country's longest runway.

New passenger terminal started operating in February, 2017 and it is announced that the moving to the new terminal will be completely finished by summer season 2017. In the first phase terminal A is to be completely closed and check in counters and security checkpoints are to be moved to the new terminal.

Further expansion is planned for completion in 2019. A new 24,181 square meters terminal with four jet bridges is under construction; the new terminal will have a projected annual capacity of 3.5 million passengers. The catchment area of Dubrovnik Airport is southern part of Croatia, as well as parts of the neighbouring countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The regular Dubrovnik Airport Shuttle Bus service is provided by Atlas Agency in Dubrovnik. After exiting the baggage claim area, you will find Atlas travel agency counter on the right-side where tickets for the shuttle bus to Dubrovnik Main Station can be purchased. In case of late arrivals (when Atlas counter is closed), you can directly buy tickets on the bus from the bus driver.
From Airport to Dubrovnik, the bus stops are Pile Gate (bus station next to the Old Town) and Main bus station in Gruž, while the bus stops from Dubrovnik to the Airport are Main bus station in Gruž Bus stop near the Grawe building, Bus stop near the Dubrovnik Cable Car at Ploče (next to the Old Town).
Airport shuttle bus generally leaves from Main bus station in Gruž 2 hours before every international flight and 90 minutes before every domestic flight.

The trip duration is approximately 30 to 40 minutes. One-way ticket is 40 Croatian Kuna, while a return ticket is 70 Croatian Kuna.

To arrange a taxi or a private transfer from and to Dubrovnik Airport, professional driver service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For larger groups a special discount can be arranged.
Fares are published at the Taxi Information counter inside the terminal, where you can also find taxi phone numbers. A taxi to the Old Town should cost around 180-200 Croatian Kuna.

If you would like to rent a car, car hire companies represented at Dubrovnik airport are Avis, Budget, Hertz, Sixt, as well as other local operators. In addition, there is a parking lot with 200 parking places adjacent to the terminal building. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes.

Shopping and dining options are quite limited at the airport with a single duty free shop that offers local products, fashion and perfumes. There is a 15 minute free Wi-Fi connection and you have to pay if you would like to continue using it.

Other services include currency exchange services, post offices, ATM and public telephones, first aid center, pharmacy and travel agencies.
