Pelješac

One of the most famed wine regions in Croatia, Pelješac peninsula is located 40 km from Dubrovnik and it is a popular wine tour destination. The wine industry in this picturesque region has undergone a seismic shift in the business paradigm: vineyard owners used to sell their wine to large cooperative on Pelješac for many years who showed more interest in quantity of wine, rather than its quality. As they closed down its doors, the young wine makers offered another fresh perspective when it comes to new business models. One can find less wineries in Pelješac now, but the quality of wine dramatically improved.
Grapes on Pelješac are planted as high as 200 to 300 m above the sea level and with the slopes being steep, it provides a perfect location for ideal growing of the autochthonous Croatian red wine grape, Plavac Mali.

The first two protected wine regions, and the most famous ones, in Croatia and Dingač and Postup (often called a younger borther of Dingač) which are located on the southern slopes of Pelješac. Notable producers of Dingač region wines include: Matuško, Vinarija Dingač, Bura-Mokalo, Miloš, Kiridžija, and Bartulović among others.
Pelješac is also well known for its pebble beaches such as Trstenica Beach in Orebic, Viganj beach known as a windsurfing paradise too, Trstenik beach, Perna beach, Kućište and Duba Pelješka beach.
