Dubrovnik Ferry Port is located in Gruž Bay, 3 km from the Old Town and just next to Dubrovnik Main Bus Station. This is the main port of Dubrovnik for all departures and arrivals to and from other coastal towns and islands (including Elaphiti islands) in Croatia as well as a connecting point with port of Bari in Italy. The big cruise ships dock at a separate part of a ferry port. Gruž port does not have ferry connections with neighboring countries such as Montenegro, Albania and Greece, except Italy.
Local bus company operates regular bus service from the port to and from Dubrovnik Old Town and other areas of Dubrovnik.
Bus number 7 drives to Lapad and Babin Kuk, buses number 1, 1A, 1B and 3 drive to the Old Town, Bus 8 to Ploče and Sveti Jakov.
Just opposite of the ferry terminal is Dubrovnik Travel Corner where you can find all necessary information for travelling in Dubrovnik region. Just next door to the Travel corner, you can find a ticket office where you can get information about the timetable and purchase tickets. It is recommended to buy tickets at least 1-2 days in advance during the busy summer season. Tickets can be also bought online.
In addition, next to the ferry port you can find tourist agencies, exchange offices, car hire offices, souvenir shops, grocery stores and Konzum supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants and bakeries as well as a well-known green market in Gruž.
DOMESTIC ROUTES
Jadrolinija is a Croatian state-owned sea shipping company connecting Croatian islands to the mainland by operating regular passenger and cargo transport services.
Dubrovnik – Elaphiti islands (Koločep, Lopud, Šipan)
Postira boat has gained cult status among many islanders transporting passengers from the mainland to the Elaphiti islands since 1963. There are several daily departures from Gruž Bay to Koločep, further to Lopud and Šipan. It is recommended to book the earliest sailing possible since each island is best experienced with a day trip. If you would like to visit all three Elaphiti islands in one day, there are plenty of tourist agencies both in Gruž Bay and Dubrovnik Port in Old Town arranging 1-day boat excursions of the islands since visiting all three islands in one day is quite impossible with Jadrolinija due to the regular ferry timetable. Tours can be arranged as private (recommended for larger groups) or you can join others on a 1-day tour.
Postira is a passenger boat, but if you would like to drive your car on the island there is a ferry from Dubrovnik to Suđurađ on Šipan island.
Dubrovnik – Mljet
If you would like to visit one of the most beautiful national parks in Croatia, there is a ferry line that operates once a day during the winter and few times a week to Šipan and Mljet. In the summer season this ferry continues further to Korčula and Lastovo.
High-speed catamaran “Nona Ana” stops at the following ports: Dubrovnik - Luka Šipanska - Sobra (Mljet) - Polače (Mljet) - Korčula - Ubli (Lastovo).
Notice that the boat leaves you in Polače, a village 40 minutes walk from the Mljet National park located in the northern part of the island. Although there is no official entrance to the National Park as such, visitors are expected to pay for the entrance in Polače and to reach the National park by the provided shuttle bus or by walk. At the ticket office in Polače you can find info brochures, leaflets and a map of the island.
Dubrovnik – Hvar
Hvar island has a wide range of ferry connections with coastal towns Split, Dubrovnik and Rijeka, as well as with other neighboring islands. There are four ferry ports on the island: Hvar Town, Jelsa, Sućuraj and Stari Grad (Old Town). In the wintertime it could be quite difficult to reach Hvar from Dubrovnik Port as there are no direct daily ferries. During the summer season there are two catamarans that connect Dubrovnik and Hvar: one catamaran departs from Dubrovnik and goes to Korčula, Hvar and Bol (Brač island) and the other one departs from Split and continues to Milna (Brač island), Hvar, Korčula, Mljet and Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik - Korčula
Korčula Island is well connected with neighbouring islands and the mainland by car ferries as well as by passenger ferries. Some ferries from Dubrovnik stop over in Mljet and some in Šipan on their way to Korčula. There are several options how to reach this island often dubbed as the Little Dubrovnik:
-ferry Catamaran Dubrovnik via Mljet to Korčula and further to Hvar, Milna and Split – daily June to October, 4 times a week in May
-Dubrovnik – Šipan- Mljet – Korčula – Lastovo: IT sails between June & September
-ferry catamaran Dubrovnik- Korčula -Hvar-Bol (Brač) in the high season.
DUBROVNIK – Split
There is a catamaran Luka accommodating up to 350 passengers that connects Dubrovnik and Split with several island stops in between (Pomena – Mljet, Korčula Old Town, Hvar, Milna, Brač) and a catamaran Krilo that directly connects these two cities. The travel time on the ferry connecting the islands is approximately 4 hours, while the direct ferry takes hours to reach Split.
The route starts operating from the beginning of May until the end of October.
DUBROVNIK – Rijeka
This line was suspended for 2016 but it is expected to be reintroduced in 2017. This is an overnight ferry arriving the following day to its destination.
INTERNATIONAL ROUTES
DUBROVNIK – Bari
The only international ferry connection from Dubrovnik is a seasonal one to the port of Bari in the southern Italy. The route is operated by two ferry companies: Jadrolinija (Croatian state-owned company) and Azzuraline (Italian ferry company) and it will commence with a first sailing on 10th of April, 2017. In the busy summer season there are 6 sailings a week, while during the spring and autumn they sail once twice a week. This international passenger / car ferry can accomodate up to 1300 people in 149 cabins (range 2, 3, 4 – inside and outside, airline style seats and a deck) and it has a capacity for up to 300 cars.
For 10 p.m. departures this is an overnight ferry, arriving the following day to its destination.
