Dubrovnik Bus Station

Dubrovnik’s Main bus station (locally called Autobusni Kolodvor) is located in Gruž Port, 3 km from the Old Town. All intercity and international bus travel departs from and arrives at the Main bus station so once you arrive here from the airport or another bus station in Croatia, you can use regular local buses to other areas of Dubrovnik. Bus number 7 drives to Lapad and Babin Kuk, buses number 1, 1A, 1B and 3 drive to the Old Town, Bus 8 to Ploče and Sveti Jakov. You can find the local bus timetable here.

Tickets for public transport can be purchased directly from the driver or at Tisak kiosks. If you buy the ticket from the driver, the price is 15 kn, but if you buy it at the kiosk the price is 12 kn. It is possible to pay for the ticket only in cash. The ticket is valid 59 minutes from the validation / stamping and can be used in all directions.

There is also a taxi station right in front of the bus terminal. You can get by taxi to the Old Town only to Pile or Ploče gate as Old Town historic centre is car free zone. A taxi to the Old Town should cost around 60-70 Croatian Kuna.
There is also a UBER service in Dubrovnik with an option of UBERx service in Dubrovnik all year around. From the main bus station to Pile gate in the Old Town by UBER should cost around 50 Croatian Kuna.

Other services at the Main bus station include waiting room, luggage storage, pay toilets, public telephones, ATM machine, tourist information center. There is also a supermarket Konzum nearby if you would like to get supplies after or before your bus trip.

From Dubrovnik Main Bus Station you can travel to most destinations within Croatia, as well as to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Germany. If you would like to travel to destinations north of Split, in most cases you will have more travel options such as a bus from Dubrovnik to Split and then transfer to your final destination.

Dubrovnik – Split

The travel time to Split located 215 km from Dubrovnik, can vary from 4 to 6 hours depending on travel routes, breaks and rest periods. If you are just paying a visit to Split and you’re planning to come back to Dubrovnik, it is recommended to buy cheaper roundtrip ticket with the same bus company. Please note that the bus will pass through the border crossing in Neum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) so do not forget to bring your passport. Once arrived in Split, you can easily find other intercity and international lines as well as a ferry port just next to the bus station if you’re up for a visit of the tranquil Dalmatian islands.

Dubrovnik – Zagreb

There are several companies departing to Zagreb throughout the year with the additional seasonal lines added to several daily departures. The trip duration is approximately 10 hours with few breaks and rest periods on the way. If you are just paying a visit to Croatian capital but you’re planning to come back to Dubrovnik, it is recommended to save money by buying cheaper roundtrip ticket with the same bus company. DUBROVNIK – Plitvice Lakes

Visiting one of the most popular national parks in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes, is certainly one of the top 10 things to do in Croatia but it could take time to arrive there from Dubrovnik. The lakes are located 450 km from Dubrovnik and the travel time by direct bus is more than 9 hours. Currently there is only one direct bus from Dubrovnik to Plitvice during the summer season, but alternatively you can choose the option with a departure from Dubrovnik and a transfer in Split to reach one of the most stunning places in Croatia. Please note that the bus will pass through the border crossing in Neum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) so do not forget to bring your passport.

Dubrovnik – Zadar

Zadar is located 350 km from Dubrovnik and the travel time is usually 6 to 8 hours, depending on travel route and the rest periods. It is advisable to buy a return ticket with the same company if you are planning to come back to Dubrovnik in order to save money. There are many direct departures from Dubrovnik to Zadar throughout the year and during the summer season, but there is also an option of doing a transfer in Split. Please note that the bus will pass through the border crossing in Neum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) so do not forget to bring your passport.

International bus routes

Dubrovnik – Mostar

The trip duration to this famous town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located 149 km from Dubrovnik, is approximately 3 hours. There are few daily buses from Dubrovnik to Mostar during winter time and several daily buses during summer time. Please note that you have to bring your passport when travelling to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The route follows the Adriatic coast boasting stunning views of Adriatic Sea and the surrounding islands.

Dubrovnik – Budva

The travel time to this popular party mecca in Montenegro is approximately 3 hours. Budva is located 115 km from Dubrovnik, but the delays or traffic jams at the Croatia - Montenegro border crossing are quite common during the busy summer season. In addition, buses often depart from other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina while having a stop in Dubrovnik on their way to Montenegro, so delays at the Croatian - Bosnian border crossing happen quite often too. Therefore, no need to be panic if your bus to Montenegro is not on time.
Passengers should have their passports when travelling to Montenegro.

Dubrovnik – Kotor

This picturesque little city in Montenegro is located 94 km from Dubrovnik, however the estimated travel time of 1 hour is extended due to the delays or traffic jams at Croatia – Montenegro border crossings. Departure time is often subject to change as it depends if there is a delay of the bus arriving from Kotor.
There are several daily bus departures from Dubrovnik to Kotor. Passengers should have their passports when travelling to Montenegro.

Dubrovnik – Sarajevo

There is a bus departing from Dubrovnik to this famous Bosnian city with a break in Mostar, or alternatively a bus to Sarajevo with a transfer stop in Mostar. The travel time is approximately 6 to 7 hours. Please note that you have to bring your passport when travelling to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dubrovnik - Belgrade

The shortest route to Belgrade is about 550 km, but the bus takes the other route with a transfer stop in Mostar and Sarajevo resulting in a trip taking 16 to 17 hours. Due to a long travel time and quite bad connection, it is recommended to rent a car or book a flight. Passengers should have their passports when travelling to Serbia.
