A good sense of what it means to be ecological and environmentally friendly is what makes the world go around, literally.
The Dubrovnik Diving Club and Abyss Dubrovnik (diving and water sports) will organise the central environmental action to clean underwater which takes place in the waters around the city annually. The environment oriented procedure, which always draws many volunteers, has been being organised for many years now and is highly popular with locals.
The current proposal is to clean underwater from Porporela to Sulic beach (Pile) and Komarda and Banje beach to Villa Dubrovnik. The action will officially begin this weekend, on Saturday the 20th of May, 2017 at 10:00.
Scuba divers from all over Croatia and from abroad will participate and lunch will be organised for all involved at 12:00 noon on Banje beach. The action is supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction, the Croatian Diving Association, the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the Tourist Board of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and others.
Accommodation for those arriving to partake in the environmental action from outside of the area has been secured in various Dubrovnik hotels, including but not limited to Hotel Lero, Hilton Imperial, Hotel Park, Rixos Libertas, Hotel Petka, members of the Valamar and ALH (Adriatic Luxury Hotels) family and more. Such ecological actions are organised during the pre-season and are aimed at cleaning and clearing the sea and raising ecological awareness, highlighting the importance of such necessary steps to keep the sea and the seabed clean, healthy and of course, inviting for the uncountable swimmers that will take to the water this summer.
