Mato Frankovic: ''I've abolished free parking on Pile for everyone, myself and my deputies will have no special privilege''

A double edged sword, but an excellent start from Dubrovnik's newly elected Mayor, Mato Frankovic.

Parking in Dubrovnik is just about as frustrating as driving in Dubrovnik, the best advice would just be to not have anything to do with a car whatsoever when in Dubrovnik because simply put - you can't win.

Newly elected Mayor Mato Frankovic has made several meaningful steps in his first few weeks of ''Mayorhood'', meeting with the animal rights group Network for Animals to discuss his pre-election promises of building a proper shelter for Dubrovnik's many abandoned animals is just one of them.

Now, Frankovic has set about trying to rectify the problem of parking in the city, particularly near Pile, where taxis, buses, people and cars all end up in one permanent state of mess for the vast majority of the summer season. At the session of the City Council, he announced that he will abolish the privilege of free parking on Pile.

''This is the most profitable carpark in the city and I do not see why I would keep my car there. As of now, nobody has the right to park there for free, and that includes myself, my deputies, and the president of the City Council'' stated Frankovic.
