The program of the manifestation titled “Christian Culture Days” has been announced by the director of this series of events Miro Radalj, and the Council of Culture and Science president Joško Mikuš and a member of the council Slavica Stojan.
Mikuš emphasized that the aim of the manifestation was to point out the rich tradition of the Christianity in this area as well as to introduce contemporary authors who have contributed to the success of this manifestation. Radalj, the director of this manifestation, added that indicating and promotion the authors and works that served as the basis for creating European culture as well as Croatian tradition, is to be made through a very rich social, cultural, artistic and spiritual program.
Slavica Stojan, author known for her stories that bring to life the past times of Republic of Dubrovnik, is going to hold lecture to honor the even of the Great Earthquake (“Velika trešnja”) that left the Old Town of Dubrovnik completely in ruins in 1667. Stojan underlines the emotional perception of people watching their loved city turned to debris, or as she put it “how the earthquake was seen by a man with a real name and address”.
Mikuš singled out some of the events from the upcoming manifestation such as spiritual music concert on April 4 in the Orthodox church of Saint Annunciation performed by the Serbian choir “Unity” from Kotor, and the concert on April 8 where Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra in addition with Dubrovnik Chamber Choir will give a premiere performance of “Salutis aram Blasius” by Tomas Restiai. Program also included a visit to the Dominican monastery, Cathedral Treasury, and the Minor Friars Franciscan monastery where the 700th anniversary of the famous Franciscan pharmacy is to be celebrated. Another 20th anniversary will honor the Way of the Cross event held on Srđ hill.
This interesting series of events commenced on April 1 when Dubrovnik Bishop Monsignor Mate Uzinić officially announced the opening at 7.30 p.m. in the Dubrovnik Cathedral, followed by a concert of Cathedral Choir from Đakovo and Capella Odak choir from Zagreb.
