"Dubrovnik Has Become an Island with the Schengen Agreement" Claims Dubravka Šuica

Last weekend saw increased traffic problems at the borders due to the new regulations that demand stricter surveillance of the European Union borders, that aplies both to EU and non-EU nationals.

Problems with tailbacks at the Croatian borders prompted immediate reaction from Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Interior Minister Vlaho Orepić that have managed to strike a deal with Bruxelles disabling detailed check-ups at the Slovenian and Hungarian border.

Dubravka Šuica has initiated a new appeal demanding the solution to a border problem that will increase in the upcoming Easter holidays season, as well as during the summer season.

Šuica emphasised that they understood the threat of terrorism, but they need to bear in mind the national interests of Croatian country as Croatian economy and tourism industry will be hit by these new regulations.
