We've all had that nightmare come true in real life: you’re on holiday and all you think is beaches, parties, checking all the sightseeing tours in the Old Town, but the moment you want to take a photo of a pigeon standing on St. Blaise’s sculpture, you realise you left your phone somewhere.
You went back to check all the places you’ve been before and you still can’t seem to find the lost item. What to do now?
The first thing you need to know is how to spell lost and found in Croatian. There are numerous groups on Facebook where people post their valuable and/or sentimentally dear items asking for others to help them find them or to immediately reach the ones who have already found it. Lost and found translates as “Izgubljeno i Nađeno / or Nadjeno” in Croatian and if you enter these words and add Dubrovnik in the Facebook search bar, you will find groups full of helpful people.
Here are a few suggestions on where to ask for help:
1. Facebook Page: Izgubljeno Nadjeno Dubrovnik
The group consists of around 2000 people and it is quite an active page. That might come as a relief since you’re not the only one losing your keys around town. Just post the description or a photo of the lost item and your contact information.
2.You can contact the local newspapers that can quite quickly post your lost item on Facebook with all your contact information.
Some of the most popular Dubrovnik local newspapers are: dubrovniknet.hr, Dubrovacki vjesnik, Glas Grada, Du list and Dubrovacki dnevnik.
3.Total Croatia News or Total Dubrovnik – Feel free to email us or send us a message via Facebook and we will be happy to help you!
4.You can also call the local radio stations which often announce the lost items category during their regular program asking listeners for their help. Some of the most popular radio stations are:
HRT Radio Dubrovnik, Soundset Ragusa and Otvoreni radio.
