We're more than used to celebs visiting Dubrovnik and singing praises in the media or on their Instagram accounts, but we're usually talking about actors, musicians, DJs and similar figures of the entertainment industry. The latest famous person coming to Dubrovnik for the summer has a somewhat different background: according to Express, American billionaire and owner of multiple casinos Sheldon Adelson arrived in Dubrovnik on Thursday, July 6.
It was reported that a Boeing 747 owned by Adelson's company Las Vegas Sands Corp. landed on Dubrovnik Airport. The reason for the entrepreneur giant coming to visit isn't yet known, but as he brought his family and business partners along, we're probably talking about business and pleasure rolled into one. Judging by his professional interests, the Croatian coast might be a lucrative future market for Adelson, as he's known for expanding his empire all around the world.
The casino mogul first bought a hotel and a casino in Vegas in the 80s, soon realising there's more money in the casino business than he first thought. He invested $1.5 billion and built a new hotel with 3000 rooms that's housing one of the largest casinos in the world. That was only a start of an extremely successful career in entrepreneurship: he now owns casinos in Las Vegas, Singapore, Macau, and has a reported net worth of $32.2 billion.
We're yet to see why Adelson brought his whole entourage to the most famous destination on the Adriatic – it might be a business trip, but as we're talking about Dubrovnik after all, the man is maybe just out to enjoy a couple of days of paradise.
