ZAGREB, 19 Aug, 2021 - In the last 24 hours, 9,962 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Croatia, and  4.87% of them, that is 486, have come back positive, Croatia's national COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Thursday.

The COVID-related death toll has risen by three to 8,294.

Currently there are 2,355 active cases of the infection with coronavirus, and of them 244 are hospitalised patients, including 25 patients placed on ventilators.

Since the first registered case of the infection with this novel virus in Croatia ion 25 February 2020, 2,437,230 tests have been performed, showing that 368,419 people have caught the virus, and of them 357,770 have recovered to date, including 252 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Croatia has administered more than three million vaccine doses, and 41.60% of the total population has got at a shot, or 49.99% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 18 Aug 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 524 coronavirus cases and three COVID-related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Wednesday.

The number of active cases is 2,124 and there are 235 hospitalized patients, including 26 on ventilators, while 5,811 persons are self-isolating.

To date, Croatia has registered 367,518 coronavirus cases and 8,291 deaths, while 357,518 persons have recovered from COVID-19, including 200 in the past 24 hours.

To date, 2,427,268 persons have been tested for the virus, including 9,879 in the past 24 hours when a share of positive tests was 5.3%.

One in two adults get vaccinated

To date, 3,182,592 vaccine doses have been administered, with 41.5% of the population vaccinated, including 49.89% of adults.

One dose has been administered to 1,684,554 persons, while 1,558,636 persons have been fully vaccinated - 1,498,038 who have received both doses and 60,598 who have received a single-dose Janssen vaccine -- which is 46.22% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 17 Aug, 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 341 coronavirus cases, out of 8,561 tests (4%), and three deaths have been confirmed in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Tuesday.

A total of 220 patients are hospitalised, including 26 on ventilators.

The death toll now stands at 8,288.

There are 1,803 active cases and 5,753 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has so far tested 2,417,389 people and infection has been confirmed in 376,409.

Of that number, 357,318 people have recovered, including 253 in the last 24 hours.

To date, Croatia has fully vaccinated 46.10% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 16 Aug 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 46 coronavirus cases, out of 3,124 tests, and two deaths have been confirmed in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Monday.

A total of 212 patients are hospitalized, including 24 on ventilators.

The death toll now stands at 8,285.

There are 1,718 active cases and 5,682 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has so far tested 2,408,828 people and infection has been confirmed in 376,068. Of that number, 357,065 people have recovered, including 229 in the last 24 hours.

To date, Croatia has vaccinated 49.7% of the adult population and 45.96% of adults have been fully vaccinated.

ZAGREB, 15 Aug, 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 298 coronavirus cases, out of 8,015 tests, and one death has been confirmed in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Sunday.

There are 1,903 active cases and 193 hospitalised patients, including 21 on ventilators, while 5,194 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has logged 367,022 coronavirus cases to date, including 8,283 deaths and 356,836 patients who have recovered, of which 176 in the past 24 hours.

To date, Croatia has vaccinated 41.4% of the population, including 49.7% of adults, 45.95% of whom have been fully vaccinated.

ZAGREB, 15 Aug, 2021 - President Zoran Milanović on Saturday attended a meeting of the Jelsa Municipal Council on Hvar island on the occasion of the municipality's day, as did Health Minister Vili Beroš as Prime Minister Andrej Plenković's envoy.

Beroš said at the meeting that the tourism results were brilliant owing to the national COVID crisis management team's thinking as well as everyone who complied with the restrictions.

He called for caution "because we don't know what the situation will be like in the autumn," adding that vaccination was the only way out of the crisis.

He said 49.7% of the adult population was vaccinated and that those who were not "represent a reservoir of a possible continuation of new coronavirus variants."

"We are still in the orange (COVID zone), but our position on the ECDC list is unstable. The rising numbers warn that the virus is among us and this position on the list could deteriorate. That won't end the tourist season, but if the epidemic flares up, it could disrupt health plans and plans for the post-season."

Beroš went on to say that big reforms were expected in the health sector, that the system was burdened with many problems, and that the COVID crisis had highlighted all that was good in the system as well as many negative things.

Commenting on Beroš's speech, Milanović said that "we have been living in abnormal circumstances for a year already, on the brink of encroaching upon human freedoms, which requires firm, clear justifications understandable to everyone."

"For now we are holding on and what I see as the most endangered is people's mental health. This will pass. I support the minister and I support any reasonable and persistent policy whose goal is good. So, get vaccinated and most of the problems will be solved," he said.

The president said prejudices were not smart, either about science or something based on proof, research and the trial and error method in which, he added, success was guaranteed and errors  were minor or reduced to the statistical minimum.

"What has been developed in the past year and a half is one of the greatest triumphs in the history of human knowledge, human organisation and synergy. It's an example of synergy, intelligence and money in a short time. Let's get vaccinated!"

Speaking on the occasion of Jelsa Municipality Day, the president said the people of Jelsa were developing their municipality well and in harmony.

He added that every society and politics must start from people's right and possibility to organise into everything that was not subversive or destructive.

Milanović said "we owe loyalty to the Croatian state, which is our national, civic state. It has its territory, its borders, open, human... it has its customs, its history, it also has its prejudices."

He supported everyone who fought for Croatia having such a status in Europe because, he said, the EU was not what had been conceived many years ago, but it was good. "In that world, we are fighting for our interest."

ZAGREB, 14 Aug, 2021 - The Delta coronavirus variant is the predominant one not just in Europe but Croatia as well, where it makes up 77% of the cases, epidemiologist Sanja Kurečić Filipović said on Saturday, not ruling out a tightening of restrictions if the number of cases continued to rise.

We have been seeing a continuous rise over the past month. We can ascribe it also to the inflow of foreign tourists and increased socialising, but we are entering the autumn period when the virus will have other factors in its favour, the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) epidemiologist told the national broadcaster HRT.

She called on people to comply with COVID rules and said she hoped the vaccination numbers would increase.

She said the vaccine rollout campaign was ongoing and that the HZJZ expected interest in vaccination to increase after people returned from vacation when, she added, they would probably think about their responsibility to children going to kindergarten and school.

Ahead of tomorrow's Feast of the Assumption holiday, she called on pilgrims to comply with public transport COVID rules and to keep a distance in buildings where services were held and to wear masks indoors.

ZAGREB, 14 Aug, 2021 - In the last 24 hours, 9,194 coronavirus tests have been performed in Croatia, and of them 4%, that is 367, have come back positive, the national COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Saturday.

The COVID-19 death toll has risen by two to 8,282.

Currently, there are 1,782 active cases, and 192 patients infected with this virus are receiving hospital treatment including 20 placed on ventilators.

Since the first registered case of the infection with coronavirus in Croatia on 25 February 2020, 366,724 people have tested positive, and of them, 356,660 have to date recovered, including 223 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

One in two adult Croats vaccinated against COVID-19

Since the start of the vaccine rollout, 3,166,258 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in Croatia, and four in ten citizens (41.4%) have got vaccinated, or 49.7% of the adult population.

So far, nearly 1.68 million people have been given a shot, while 1.55 million have fully been vaccinated, that is 45.9% of the adult population.

There are 190 hospitalized patients, including 22 on ventilators.

The death toll currently stands at 8,273.

There are 1,102 active cases while 4,487 persons are self-isolating.

To date, 2,356,266 persons have been tested for the virus, including 3,909 in the past 24 hours.

Also, 41% of the population has been vaccinated, including 49.3% of adults, 45.03% of whom have completed vaccination.

ZAGREB, 8 Aug, 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 213 coronavirus cases and one COVID death have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Sunday.

There are 1,231 active cases and 175 hospitalised patients, including 18 on ventilators, while 4,100 persons are self-isolating.

To date, 2,352,357 persons have been tested for the virus, including 6,991 in the past 24 hours.

Also, 41% of the population has been vaccinated, including 49.2% of adults, 44.99% of whom have completed vaccination.
