Lokrum saw a huge increase in their turnover in the first few months of 2017, and they're using it wisely!
As Glas Grada reported on the 3rd of June, 2017, the Lokrum Reserve is continually investing in new, up to date facilities.
Architect Ivana Dabrovic's solution has seen the completion of works on setting up a demountable sun deck/sunbathing area on the concrete pier on the southeastern side of the island. The berth was originally built approximately 80 years ago for the needs of construction works on Lokrum, and has unfortunately remained unsightly and unsuitable for getting in and out of the sea and sunbathing ever since. Owing to that fact, it was decided that a modern looking wooden structure would be placed there, making it much easier and safer for all visitors to the beautiful, uninhabited green island to enjoy the sun and the crystal clear sea.
Additionally, the use of beach umbrellas and sun umbrellas which are set to be placed in the area will be completely free of charge.
Lokrum is idyllic, almost untouched and enormously popular with both locals and visitors to the Pearl of the Adriatic, offering a breath of fresh air and some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of an often overcrowded city, making new, modern improvements on the island even more worthwhile. Similar interventions in other areas of the island are already being planned for next season.
