See in Zagreb

Zagreb Urban Wine Bike Tour

By 31 January 2017

If you’re a wine connoisseur and want to find out more about winemaking in Croatia so you can brag to your friends who haven’t visited yet, or if you’re a wine enthusiast, but you want to start getting into wines more, what better occasion to do so than your visit to Zagreb, capital of the country with over 2,500 years of winemaking tradition.

You’ll visit a wine basement and not only hear about, but also taste different Croatian wine varieties so you get see for yourself that people do not exaggerate in describing just how wonderful Croatian wines really are. Of course, no wine tasting is complete without a cheese platter, so you’ll try Croatian cheeses and prosciutto as well.

Well, what are the bikes for?” you wonder, “I can sit at a bar and drink wines on my own as well.” Sure you can, but then you wouldn’t be able to hear all the interesting stories that your guide will tell you as the active part of the tour continues. You’ll pass by Lotrščak Tower and hear about its cannon, St. Mark’s Church and find out what that animal on its roof is, and even visit a hidden vineyard and hear all about why bishops produced the best wine in the Middle Ages.

The tour will cover wines from different parts of Croatia, and you’ll also become an expert on pairing wine and food, which will indubitably impress the waiters at all the restaurants you visit.

This 2,5-hour tour costs around 60, and you can book it here. Wine tasting and snacks are included in the price.
