Zagreb Funicular

By 11 January 2017

The Zagreb Funicular is another instantly recognizable symbol of the city and the oldest means of public transport in Zagreb. It takes about a minute for one of the two blue cable cars to get from Tomićeva ulica, in the Lower Town, to Strossmayer Promenade, in Upper Town. Its 66 m track makes it one of the shortest funiculars in the world, but the inclination of 52% also makes it one of the steepest. The funicular has been in operation since 1893 and its steam engines were substituted with electrical engines in 1934.
