After Renovations, Excelsior Opens its Doors to First Guests of 2017

The beautiful Hotel Excelsior on Dubrovnik's shoreline opens its doors to the first guests of the season following a long period of renovation.

As DuList reported on the 6th of May 2017, Dubrovnik's famed Hotel Excelsior opened its doors to it's first guests yesterday.

The opening of it's doors follows an eye-watering investment of half a million kunas per room, meaning a complete reconstruction of the rooms and suites, the Excelsior's last renovation which lasted for months is its first significant one since the year 2008. In order to properly highlight the historical elements and the stunning architecture of the early 20th century as well as create a sophisticated, contemporary and modern atmosphere inside the building; the renovation involved thorough alterations to all accommocations facilities, which includes a massive 158 rooms and suites.

Boasting 158 rooms, including 139 double rooms and 19 luxury suites located within two buildings (Villa Odak, 1913 and The Tower, a more contemporary part of the complex) it was no easy feat and hardly surprising that it took so long to complete. The project was commissioned by the Croatian architectural studio ''BF'' alongside ''Franic Sekoranja'' with the view that the continuation of the implementation of authentic, Croatian design when it comes to hotel investment and renovation within the Adriatic Luxury Hotels brand (of which the Excelsior is a part), coupled with second-to-none service in accordance with international standards has a very positive impact on the competitiveness of Croatian tourism as a whole, upon which Dubrovnik in particular so heavily relies upon.

The Excelsior has and continues to play a very important role in the City of Dubrovnik, and not just for tourists. It has been a meeting place for many years and seen many celebrities, conferences, meetings and world class international events walk in and out of its doors over the years.

The huge redesign has involved some very stylish details and innovative ideas. For example, the reception area which one is met with upon immediate entrance now showcases a unique view of Dubrovnik's historic centre and city walls, giving visitors a first glance of what they came to see from a slightly different, rather unusual angle. The space has also been enlarged to allow it to be functionally linked to the hotel's many rooms and accommocation facilities. The Abakus piano bar and terrace has undergone a complete transformation and now boasts a beautiful sophisticated yet relaxed ambience, along with ''Sensus'' a fine dining restaurant along with the existing Salun and Prora restaurants.

The official opening ceremony of Hotel Excelsior following its ''makeover'' is planned for the 26th of June this year.
