Jazz.hr/Spring Festival Kicks off Today

If you are a jazz lover, be sure to visit Jazz.hr/spring festival that takes place at Blagoje Bersa Concert Hall, Zagreb’s Academy of Music, from March 23 to March 25. The three-day jazz journey, hosted by Croatian jazz portal, will include the Eddie Henderson Quartet, Zagreb Jazz Portrait and Tony Momrelle.

The Eddie Henderson Quartet kicks things off on March 23. This charismatic and imaginative composer was greatly influenced by Louis Armstrong, who gave him his first informal lesson at the age of nine, and Miles Davis, with whom he played a gig at the age of 17. He gained recognition for his work with Herbie Hancock. A special guest, Italian saxophonist Piero Odorico, will join the quartet onstage at the Zagreb concert.


The day after, Zagreb Jazz Portrait, one of the longest-running Croatian jazz bands and winner of numerous awards and recognitions, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an unforgettable concert. Their creativity and music that ‘portraits’ beautiful soundscapes of famous jazz legends make each performance exceptional, so don’t miss out.


On Saturday, March 25, Tony Momrelle, British R&B, soul and jazz singer, will be performing his soulful renditions, which made him one of the most sought out singer of his genre. Tony Momrelle is the current lead vocalist of the British acid jazz band Incognito, who had a few UK chart hits with their cover versions and remixes of famous songs, such as Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing”.


All concerts start at 8 pm.
Tickets priced at 70Kn for Zagreb Jazz Portrait and the Eddie Henderson Quartet, and at 100Kn for Tony Momrelle concert, can be purchased at ulaznice.hr website or at the box office of the Academy of Music, two hours before the concert. Price for all three concerts of the festival is 168Kn.
