Zagreb Introduces 15 New Smart Benches

The Mayor's Office in Zagreb issued a statement informing citizens about fifteen new smart benches being installed around the city, available for use from Saturday, 20 May, reports zagreb.info.

Developed by young Croatian inovator Ivan Mrvoš, the benches are powered by solar panels and equipped with two USB cable chargers and a wireless one to enable users to charge mobile phones and connect to the internet. They have a built-in cooling system, and automatically turn down in case of rain or snow.

The City of Zagreb has already implemented 20 smart benches in the last year, on various locations such as Bundek lake, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jarun lake and the Student Centre. This round is a welcome addition covering more neighbourhoods, including remote locations like Sesvete and Brezovica.

You'll find new benches in the centre at the European square (Europski trg), next to the main railway station on the Tomislav square, in front of the main bus station on Marin Držić Avenue, and at Kvaternik square. One is getting installed in Dubrava neighbourhood next to the Cultural Centre Dubrava, while another will be placed at the main entrance of Mirogoj cemetery, next to the information centre.
