Savska/Vodnikova Junction Opens to Traffic

By 31 August 2017

The junction has been undergoing works since July.

After a two-month renovation process, the Savska/Vodnikova junction opened for traffic this morning, which means that trams No. 2, 4, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 17 are back to their normal routes.

Mayor Milan Bandić attended the opening of the renovated junction and thanked citizens for their patience and workers for their hard work.

"This section of the road has been closed to all traffic for a while, but if it hadn't been done, we would have had two more months of works," the Mayor said.

Ms Ljuba Romčević-Žgela, Head of ZET, explained that the reconstruction was necessary after 20 years and that citizens who live nearby will be happy to know that the trams will now be less noisy.

During the reconstruction process, 597 m of tram tracks have been renovated, which will make a total of 10 km of renovated tram tracks in the city once the works in Maksimirska are finished in mid-September.
