ZET will introduce free WiFi in all its trams and buses, Jutarnji list reports on October 3, 2017, and the investment will cost around HRK 26 million.
Free WiFi will be introduced to 142 trams and 213 buses in early 2018, and the tender for Internet providers to offer bids is open until the end of October.
After registering and connecting to the network, passengers will be automatically redirected to ZET homepage, and they will be able to browse all sites except for the ones with inappropriate content.
Users will be able to spend 30 min online, and, after that, they will have to log in again.
Currently, there are three trams and buses offering free WiFi in Zagreb. The pilot programme was introduced in late 2016, and the three trams and buses have had free WiFi since March, when Mayor Milan Bandić promised to introduce free WiFi in all trams and buses until July.
Interestingly enough, most comments on MojPosao Facebook page, which shared the article, or on Jutarnji's website were pretty negative - people think that the money could have been spent better, for example on educating drivers and ticket inspectors; some have commented that the ticket prices could have been reduced instead, while others seem to think that this is a completely unnecessary move considering that most people have mobile data plans on their phones, and some people have even commented that there will be no one to use free WiFi because everyone is moving away.
