The idea behind Hugo’s is the desire to create a cosy place for your morning coffee, afternoon rest, or an unforgettable night out. Even though oftentimes these three elements don’t mix well, Hugo’s has managed to do the impossible and bring the three together. As soon as you step inside, you will notice its trademark – an installation of a bare pink tree which instantly becomes synonymous with the entire space.

“Although our motives come from all over the place, this is not an example of an eclectic style. We wanted to create a slightly decadent space, with a laissez-faire atmosphere, a sort of a critique and provocation to the world around us,” said Igon Studio, architects behind the project.

Horse graphics spreading through the interior, tree installations and earth hues in combination with contemporary colours, such as pink, yellow, and purple, show the audacity of combining the elements of nature with the 21st-century design.

“When we thought about what we wanted the bar to look like, we knew we wanted to avoid any kind of formally designed space,” the owners say. That is why Igon Studio architects have created a pulsating stage where all elements of life take place, both its flaws and virtues, in an ambiance not too different from Tim Burton’s works; a place that will not broadcast a message about how exclusive it is, but will live and breathe with its visitors, telling a different story to each.
