Dire Straits Experience to Perform in Zagreb

By 24 August 2017

The Sultans of Swing are coming to Zagreb in October.

After yesterday’s news that Toto is coming to bless the rains down in Zagreb, another classic band, founded the same year as Toto, is coming to Zagreb's Dražen Petrović Basketball Hall on October 24, 2017 – the Dire Straits Experience, Muzika.hr reports on August 23, 2017.

True, it’s a tribute band, but it does have two original band members, Chris White on the saxophone and Chris Whitten on the drums, supported by world-class musicians Tim Walters on the guitar, Simon Carter and Danny Schogger on the keyboards, Paul Geary on the bass, and Terence Reis on the guitar and as the lead vocalist.

Even though you might think that Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler is not Dire Straits, the reviews for the Dire Straits Experience have been overwhelmingly positive.
“The unbelievable Knopfler channelling of guitarist/singer Terence Reis… not only replicates Knopfler’s guitar and singing style in an eerily accurate manner, he performs with such gusto and passion it was easy to forget we weren’t watching the original Dire Straits in its early 1980s prime. From intense, elongated versions of epics like “Telegraph Road” and “Tunnel of Love” to fan favourites like “Walk Of Life” and “Brothers In Arms,” the music hit every target, without a false note of mimicry or nostalgia...”
Barry Davis (The Straits’ European Autumn Tour 2012)

You can look forward to hits including Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing, Walk of Life, or Brothers in Arms.

Tickets ranging from HRK 160 (early bird) to HRK 230 (VIP) can be bought at Rockmark in Zagreb, or on Eventim’s website.
