Matej Meštrović Presents His Interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons at HNK

By 12 October 2017

Matej Meštrović will present his own interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Sunday, October 15 at the Croatian National Theater Zagreb.

Prominent Croatian pianist and composer Matej Meštrović will present the baroque masterpiece "Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi in a new energetic transcription for three pianos on Sunday, October 15, along with the popular Croatian jazz pianist Matija Dedić and Turkish pianist and composer Hakan Ali Toker, reports Jutarnji.hr on October 12, 2017.

The piece was arranged by Matej Meštrović, who adapted the four most Vivaldi's popular violin concerts for three pianos, mixing it up with Balkan, Roma and jazz rhythms. Meštrović's new Vivaldi reading entitled "Four Seasons for Three Pianos" will be performed by three renowned pianists Matej Meštrović, Matija Dedić and Hakan Ali Toker at Zagreb's HNK, marking the occasion of the release of the CD of the same name, distributed by Naxos and under the auspices of the American Navona Records.

"In a new energetic transcription that brings a new reading of Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons', Meštrović, together with Matija Dedić and Hakan Ali Tokero performing on three pianos (and accordion), thoroughly examines Vivaldi's concerts by radically reworking and transforming this popular classical piece into what is almost an entirely new piece of music," the announcement states. As the score also allows improvisation, each of the pianists will also have their own piano solo.

The event will feature a special guest performance by American pianist and composer Matthew Mayer, who will warm up the Zagreb audience beforehand.

There will be four concerts held at four National Theaters throughout Croatia, starting with Zagreb:

15.10. Zagreb
16.10. Rijeka
18.10. Split
20.10. Varaždin
