Zagreb Craft Beer Week - Winter Edition 2017

By 28 November 2017

The craft beer scene in Zagreb has been on the rise for the past few years, so it’s no wonder there is a craft beer festival organized in Zagreb.

This week, from the November 27th until December 2nd, Zagreb Craft Beer Week will take place, organized by the Craft Room Pub, this year with the support by the British Embassy in Zagreb. The Week includes numerous beer-related events, but the main event is the Zagreb Craft Beer Festival, which will take place on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, 2nd in Studenski centar (Savska 25). Over 20 Croatian craft breweries are expected to present their beers at the festival, and most of them will be presenting their “winter” or “holiday” beers to the public for the first time this year. In addition to them, over 20 top British breweries will visit Zagreb and offer their finest products as well, including some of the most renowned British craft breweries (Fourpure Brewing, Tiny Rebel, Moor Beer Company, Saltaire, ShinDiggerBrewing, Ilkley Brewery, Vibrant Forest Brewery and Abbeydale Brewery).

During the week leading up to the main event many other craft-related things will be on the menu throughout Zagreb, at many locations which are usually associated with craft beer, but also at some others as well. New beers are presented this week in Horvati pub, The Garden Brewery and Craft Room, there’s discounts on various craft beers (and related products) at Svijet Piva, Pločnik bar and Kascheta and Otto&Frank restaurants. Craft Room will also organize a dinner prepared by one of top Croatian chefs, Tom Gretić, 5-course beer-inspired dinner, paired with various beers on Wednesday, and an exhibition of sculptures also inspired by beer, created by Ana Horvat will also be open. And for the not-expected locations where events will take place: Dubravkin put, one of the top restaurants in Zagreb, will host a dinner called “Crafting with Priska”, 6-course meal paired with craft beers.

On the morning of the last day of the festival the so-called Hangover Brunch will be held in Studentski centar, where many of the top Croatian chefs will offer some food supposed to ease the pain of a long beer evening on Friday night, and get the visitors ready for a repeat on Saturday.

Tickets for the festival in Studentski centar can be purchased here, 45 kuna for a daily ticket or 75 for both days. Detailed schedule of the festival and more information can be found on Facebook and festival web site.
